Siddharth J. Shetty, Chairman of MNBS Trust, is a visionary leader committed to education, research, and community development. Under his leadership, the IMJ Institute of Research (IMJIR) was founded with the goal of establishing an international research center in a rural setting. His vision blends cutting-edge scientific research with technological innovation, while also empowering local communities and fostering national pride. Apart from his contributions to research and higher education, he has been instrumental in expanding professional education in engineering, management, nursing, and degree programs. His dynamic leadership has strengthened the trust’s institutions, making them hubs of learning and innovation. An engineer, agriculturist, and entrepreneur, he is also actively involved in philanthropy and cultural initiatives.
Born into the esteemed Moodlakatte Guthu family, Siddharth J. Shetty is the son of Mrs. Vidya J. Shetty and Late I.M. Jayaram Shetty, a respected leader, industrialist, and philanthropist who made a lasting impact on the educational and social landscape of Kundapura Taluk. Following in his father’s footsteps, Siddharth has dedicated himself to education, research, and rural development, shaping the IMJ Group of Institutions into a center for academic excellence.
Siddharth completed his schooling at Sharada Residential School, Udupi, where he demonstrated strong leadership as the school captain and excelled in sports, representing his state in basketball. He pursued his engineering degree from Bangalore Institute of Technology, after which he took on responsibilities within MNBS Trust, becoming its Working President in 2016.
As Chairman of Moodlakatte Institute of Technology (MITK), he has played a key role in its growth, ensuring that it meets global educational standards. His vision extends beyond higher education—he established Vidya Academy, a pioneering institution for early childhood education, and initiated the College of Nursing to support the healthcare sector while providing employment opportunities for rural youth. Recognizing the need for graduates in IT and commerce, he also launched a degree college affiliated with Mangalore University.
Expanding his professional engagements, Siddharth is an agriculturist and a partner in AgroChem Industries, Bangalore. He is also actively involved in philanthropy and cultural initiatives alongside his wife, CA Anisha Rai, a practicing Chartered Accountant.
His latest initiative, IMJ Institute of Research (IMJIR), reflects his commitment to scientific progress and rural empowerment. The institute aims to create an international research hub in a rural setting, focusing on precision instrumentation, quantum computing with ion traps, AI/ML applications, and sensor technologies. Under his leadership, IMJIR invites bright minds from diverse disciplines—physics, electronics, computer science, and mathematics—to collaborate and contribute to cutting-edge research that has real-world impact.
